FAQs

Course Fees
The course fee is either £1,700 or £1,300 based upon means and is fully inclusive of your own private accommodation, food and all tuition fees.

Once your place has been confirmed, you will have seven days to pay a non-refundable deposit of £400. The remaining course fees will only be refunded if cancelled six weeks in advance. If using PayPal, please include the transfer fees in your payment. We also offer one bursary place per course and a 10-month payment plan upon request. Please contact us for more information.

Which tier do I pay?
We ask participants to choose their tier based upon their means. We offer two tiers to ensure the course is accessible to everyone and we trust that participants will choose theirs in good faith.

Do I have to be an artist?
We believe that everyone is an artist.

What’s included?
The fee covers the entirety of the workshop; your own private accommodation at Dartington Estate, breakfast at the White Hart each day, home cooked lunches and dinners at Siâns, a guided night walk, the Saturday guest session with award winning poets/artists, swimming in the Dart, a 4-hour wood fired sauna at the coast, and other treats along the way. The only thing not included is travel to and from the Dartington Estate and wine. We recommend bringing £20-£50 in cash depending on how much you like to drink.

Food
We love to eat. Food is what binds us during the course. Breakfast will be served at the White Hart pub. Lunch and dinner will consist of organic, local food made by Siân and her son Joseph. Wine is not provided (see above). Please notify us of any dietary requirements well in advance.

What kind of things should I bring?
A sense of humour and an open mind are always welcome. Please also bring waterproofs, wellies or walking shoes for the night walk, swimwear, and a towel. We also suggest bringing slider/flip flops, warm slippers, loose comfortable clothing, and a notebook. We provide blankets for everyone throughout the duration of the course and neoprene gloves and boots for those that need them to swim.

What time does the course begin and finish?
The course begins promptly at 4:30 PM on the first day with greetings, food, and wine at Siân’s house. It ends following breakfast on Monday morning. We recommend taking the 9.53AM train on Monday.

How do I get here?
Please see the location page.

Communication
We will set up a WhatsApp group with participants two weeks before the course begins. We encourage everyone to share travel plans in advance, and to offer rides if driving. If arriving by train, please use the group to book taxis travelling from Totnes to Dartington Estate together. The group is a place to share information and help each other out.
